Become a HRSA Grant Reviewer!

Most federal agencies, including HRSA (the Health Resources and Services Administration), rely on outside experts to review grant applications and advise them on which proposals should receive funding. Grant reviewers serve by objectively evaluating and scoring grant applications using the published evaluation criteria for that grant. Serving on grant review panel is a great way to learn more about the grant-making process as well as an excellent opportunity to network with colleagues.

HRSA is currently interested in expanding its national network of peer reviewers and is accepting applications online.  If you are interested in becoming a grant reviewer, visit the https://grants.hrsa.gov/webReview/ and complete the registration and online application.  Reviewers are selected to review specific grant programs based on their knowledge, education, and experience in health professions training, HIV/AIDS, maternal and child health, organ transplantation, primary care for underserved people, rural health. HRSA also considers diversity of ethnicity, gender, experience, and geography.

HRSA grant reviewers typically participate in a three to five-day meeting held in the Washington, DC, area. Travel expenses and related costs are paid for by HRSA. Reviewers will also receive an honorarium.

The recently enacted federal health reform legislation has created a number of grant programs for dentistry and dental hygiene education. As a dental hygiene educator or practitioner, you have unique expertise and perspectives.  Please consider contributing your talents by becoming a HRSA grant reviewer!
